| Bordeaux 03 Great company, empty roads... |
Following the first Bordeaux Blat last year, Hugh and Kay once again organized an excellent trip around the area surrounding their beautiful Bordeaux home.
An unbeatable combination of great company, great food, lovely wine and fantastic empty roads. The swimming pool also proved popular this year in the 40° heat!
Having changed my ferry time 3 times that day due to unfinished projects, I finally left Dover on Tuesday evening. Tessa was to follow on vis Ryanair later.
SeaFrance ferry - mid-channel! I arrived in France late evening, so only drove down to Rouen that night. The following day was a blast from Rouen to Bordeaux - about 6 hours.
Most of the Bordeaux Blat gang, sitting down to the arrival barbecue on Wednesday night. Without doubt it is the people involved with the trip who make it so much fun.
Hunks of meat on the barby!

Duras - France was very colourful at this time of the year, particularly with the fields of sunflowers. Duras is a small hill-top town just south east of Bergerac.
Chateaux detail at Duras.
Duras.
Sun kissed courtyard - Duras.
Great view from the top of the tower in Duras. Tessa flew into Bergerac, so it was only a short trip to pick her up.
Arty shot! The mirror is positioned over a well in the Chateaux - spot the camera!
Whole sheep being slowly roasted over hot coals back at Hugh & Kays. The 'chef' spent 5hrs preparing and cooking the meat - with not a grass blade scorched...
... more a whole patch dessimated really - but the result was fantastic.
Evening of food, wine and chat...
