The Invite!

I have been invited to the launch of the new Caterham in Central London on 7th October! I shall of course be taking lots of pictures and hope to get them here by Thursday evening!

Unusual location for a sports car launch! Below this record store, a cellar painted white, not 200 yards from Oxford Street, central London!

We descended to find a number of cars, all under smart Caterham dust sheets - Caterham staff in smart blue shirts and ties!

A very very low chassis and 'surprise' engine - all under covers. Got everyone guessing about body shape and details!

Room started to fill as gradually crept around the back of the display!

Graham Nearn chats away before the launch presentation. I was going to wander up and just say 'Thank you!' but somehow never got round to it!

Pictures don't really do justice as to how low this race chassis actually was!

Not sure how he got in! Club Secretary Paul Davis with the permanently attached wine glass and grin! :) (more pictures later Paul!)

Another peek around the rear of the dust sheet revealed a sparkling silver chassis and lovely slicks.

Sneak behind the display and first clue to worst kept secret - exhaust exited the right hand side of the covered engine - I wonder what it could be...?!

'Proof of attendance' picture of Mark!

A short presentation and film introduced the brand, a little bit of history, and finally the new cars. Curtains and dust sheets were simultaneously opened and removed.

Da da!

Road and race car sat next to each other on the stage.

Yellow race car looked particularly purposeful.

Small winglets on the nose cone just part of an aero package, that included small chin spoiler and panels in the roll cage, as seen in the SV-R racer earlier in the year.

Mark said he would kill me if I put this picture in.  Doh!

First look at the new CSR branding - Club Sport Racer? Caterham Sport Racer?

And further confirmation of Cosworth's involvement in the engine development.

The press were there - here Simon Nearn is interviewed for TV
