GUESTBOOK

As with many things we do, it started on Blatchat. Hugh Dent invited fellow Caterham owners to visit them in the Bordeaux wine region and partake in a few days of wine tasting, good food and empty roads. There was also the opportunity to demonstrate our cars to the locals at a special village fair in honour of our visit, where we could give rides and enjoy local hospitality. How could we refuse?!

Tessa was unable to come as she was working, so my partner for the trip was Paul, a colleague from work. Due to our work commitments Paul and I left from Portsmouth and would meet up with the others at Hugh and Kays.

Amazingly Paul and I met up with the others just outside Bordeaux at an autoroute pay station, so we were all able to arrive at Hugh&Kays beautiful house together as a group - after one or two 'issues' at a local junction!

One of our first trips was to the town of St Emilion. Situated on a plateau, only wine grown within a very tightly defined area can be called St Emilion. The beautiful town was small enough to explore on foot, and as usual there was a suitable tower to climb and take some 'view' shots!

A 'view' shot with the tower in it!

Multi-national Caterhams! Hugh has a BDR engined Caterham, which he has imported and registered in France.

St Emilion

This Abbey ruin features on some St Emilion wine labels. The ruin and vineyard are within metres of the town wall.

A major part of the trip was the opportunity to blat along excellent empty roads - and enjoy 'convoy blatting' with the others.

Taken as we drove out of Hughs drive on the way to our Saturday afternoon village meet, I have increased the contrast of this photo for clarity, but otherwise it was as seen. It had been raining before - this was a sign - it was sun from now on - and God drives a 7!!

Line up of UK and French Sevens outside the village hall in Montignac. Other cars soon joined us, including Elises, a Morgan, Ferrari and a Mini Cooper.

There was a great local turn out, and pretty soon the rides began! Its always fantastic giving rides to enthusiastic people and I think we drove solidly for 4 or 5 hours!

The Crew! Susie and Hugh, Mike and Tam, Steve and Ronnie, Peter and rosina, Chris and Paul, and myself, with our host Hugh Dent. I'm sure we lined those cars up perfectly...

Paul being served a local punch by the local Mayor, M.Garineau. Paul and myself stayed with Michel down the road on his farm, and a delightful host he was! His grin increased even more after I had given him a ride in our car!

This huge, delicious Paella was cooked up infront of us while we were giving rides. It tasted fantastic, as did all the food on the trip - particualrly the feasts cooked up by Hugh and Kay back at their house.

The evening do. We were all made to feel very welcome by the people of Montignac, and this evening was great. Food, wine and a great Blues band.
